Do Corefix Connect dot & dab fixings work in thermalite, celcon blocks or aerated concrete?

Yes they work in thermalite, for very crumbly or porous materials we recommend turning off the hammer function on the drill and starting with a 9mm hole instead of 10mm for a tighter fit for the plug.

What's the maximum cavity depth for Corefix Connect dot & dab fixings to work?

The max. recommended distance from the outer surface of the plasterboard to the block is 45mm.

Can I use Corefix Connect dot & dab fixings with insulated plasterboard?

It depends – For Corefix Connect, the maximum distance from the outer surface of the plasterboard to the blockwork is 45mm, so if you have 12mm plasterboard you could have max. 33mm thick insulation before the blockwork for the fixings to work properly.

Can Corefix Connect dot & dab fixings be used for just brickwork or concrete?

Yes they are also suitable for solid brickwork, concrete and masonry.

What size of drill bit do Corefix Connect fixings require?

Corefix Connect requires a 10mm drill bit. For very crumbly or porous materials like aerated concrete, you can start with a 9mm drill bit with the hammer function turned off to avoid accidentally making to hole too wide.

Will Corefix Connect dot & dab fixings work for TV swivel and turn brackets?

Depends how far out of the wall the bracket reaches. Corefix Connect are generally not recommended for cantilever brackets, but if it just tilts close to the wall then they’ll be fine.

If you are screwing through dot-and-dab into brick and can't see the brickwork, how do you avoid screwing into mortar?

Drill a small pilot hole first to check – if you’re not sure if you’ve hit a mortar joint, we recommend using more than one fixing.

What's the difference between Corefix Connect 100 and Connect 120?

The screw length – Connect 100 has a 100mm screw suitable for brackets up to 10mm, while Connect 120 has a longer 120mm screw ideal for thicker fixtures up to 30mm, like timber battens.
