How much weight can the Corefix Spike heavy duty hook support in plasterboard vs masonry?
The safe working load using the heavy duty plasterboard fixing is 50kg, whereas the safe load using the masonry wall plug is 60kg in solid brick or concrete.
How much space do Corefix Spike heavy duty hooks need to open behind the plasterboard?
Minimum about 35mm.
Can Corefix Spike heavy duty hooks be used in ceilings as well as walls?
We don’t recommend these hooks for ceiling use.
How can I tell if the Corefix Spike plasterboard fixing is properly set behind the board?
If the bolt is screwed all the way in then the wings will have opened fully – if anything was obstructing them, the bolt would not go all the way in. The arrows on the fixing cap show which way the wings are facing, so check that they are pointing straight up and down for the strongest hold.
Does the Corefix Spike heavy duty hook come with fixings for both solid and hollow walls?
Yes, this hook comes with both a heavy duty plasterboard fixing and a masonry wall plug.
What size drill bit does the Corefix Spike hook need?
To install the Corefix Spike hook in masonry please use a 6mm drill bit for the plug.
